Last time… Dios, along with millions of others who disappeared from around the world, awakens inside a bluish Mana water inside a Mana sphere. A figure appeared, telling him and the others they were sent there to learn to fight monsters. He studied the Enchiridion, a book of instruction and guidance, while trapped inside. Most of the Mana spheres open. Dios watches as people go through large double doors. Once out, he travels to the end of the area the pods were in, called the White. He enters the last doors to naked, starving people at the bottom of large stone stairs. He finds a place far from the others to settle, where he finds Errors. He goes outside the safety of the Sanctuary, encountering his first monsters. He joins the hunting parties to learn how to move through the forest.

CHAPTER TEN: STEPPING ON THE WRONG EARTH

The group moves quickly through the forest. On several large sticks or makeshift spears, transported by four to six men, they have placed their kills of the fauna boars. Smaller bodies hanging from one long, thick provisional pole are transported by two men on each side. They work in teams to carry the carcasses, switching in shifts, never letting anyone become too exhausted from lifting. But this may not be enough.

Dios carries the largest Queen’s boar on his shoulders. Others do the same, but with much smaller game. They are amazed by his strength and earlier display of speed. They wonder how he can carry anything on that hurt leg and his other injuries. They were impressed, but some wished he had decided to take a trophy instead. Many of the gamer hunters were disappointed they could not bring one of the monstrosity boars or at least a piece as evidence of their victory. They imagined the huge tusks being on his shoulders, or better yet, their own. They envisioned people cheering when they returned. But this daydream was replaced by the fear and exhaustion that is growing from the new threat.

“These damn things are not stopping,” yells a young Australian man!

“If we rest, we die,” yells a young Samoan!

They hear loud yelps echoing through the forest from behind.

“Are they getting closer! Or are we slowing down,” yells another young Australian man!

“Does it matter which! Keep moving,” yells SmallHolder!
